Expertise
Zarah has been working as analyst, project manager and lecturer for military and civilian actors in crisis and conflict such as the Swedish Armed Forces, NATO and EU Military Staff , the Swedish Red Cross and the Swedish Médecines Sans Frontières.

Experience and solutions

Analysis to identify implementation solutions to strategic goals at military-strategic level. As project manager and analyst, Zarah led the Joint NATO and EU Senior Leader Seminar project at military-strategic level in Brussels 2019. The Directors General of NATO International Military Staff (IMS) and EU Military Staff (MS) conducted a seminar with their Directors on how to achieve identified strategic goals. Project members included military staff from NATO IMS, EUMS and EU EEAS, the Czech Armed Forces and the Spanish Ministry for Defence.

Bringing multi-actors projects to the finishing line. Zarah led the publishing process of the anthology IHL and Gender – Swedish experiences for the Swedish Red Cross and Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Contributing writers were staff members from various Swedish government agencies such as the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Swedish Defence University and Karolinska Institute. The anthology was launched at the International Conference of the Red Cross and Crescent in December 2015, Geneva Switzerland, two months after the project was initiated.

Crisis management. As part of the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare’s special organization for COVID-19, Zarah has taken on roles such as deputy function manager, team leader and desk officer.

Seminars and lectures. Some comments from students after Zarah’s lectures:
“You are the first civilian that can explain it from a military perspective.”
